Ysgol Bryn Onnen is a Welsh-language primary school set in the dramatic landscape of the Afon Lwyd valley.

Inspire Architects are working alongside Torfaen Council and Kier Construction in developing proposals to transform the school as part of the Welsh Government’s Sustainable Schools Challenge. This challenge is an exciting opportunity to create a sustainable design and demonstrate what can be achieved in a school setting.

The proposals include a Net Zero Carbon school, community use spaces, new sports facilities and the potential for new sustainable housing. Each element is designed to harvest all the sustainable energy potential that the site has to offer and is carefully integrated with the natural landscape.

It has been a pleasure to work on this exciting feasibility study and we very much hope the project will be selected to progress to the construction phase.
